Contra Spem Spero

Contra Spem Spero (Latin for 'Against all hope, I hope') is a narrative-driven horror experience that blends text-based exploration, immersive visual novel storytelling, survival elements, and puzzle-solving. Your car breaks down in the middle of a deserted road. Having no time to waste, you decide to continue on foot, grabbing only your journal and camera. Yet imperceptibly, the asphalt turns into soil, and you find yourself trapped in the endless night of a forest filled with things you cannot explain.. And terrifying creatures that were once human. They speak to you through the photos you take. Branching narrative unfolds based on each of your choices. Multiple endings contribute to a fuller understanding of the story. Survival elements challenge you to keep track of your health divided into two distinct bars. Different types of puzzles add diversity to the gameplay. Interactive map allows you to navigate through 42 main locations and 13 secret ones. Dark stylized photos capture every place visited and creature encountered. And here, no encounter is meaningless. Whether it’s another lost human, a desperate creature, a wandering observer, a mysterious entity, or someone indescribable — each carries a past that can shape your future. Who will you trust? Or better yet, can anyone in this place truly be trusted? Seizure warning! This game contains flashing lights and visual effects that may trigger seizures in individuals with photosensitive epilepsy.
