Wings of the Western Front

Wings of the Western Front is a simulation of WWI fighter squadron command, pilot management, and aerial combat from 1914 to 1918. It will place you in the role of Squadron Commander, responsible for every pilot who takes to the skies from the first days of the air war through to the Armistice. Wings of the Western Front will let you recruit, train, and deploy pilots across a living background war that keeps moving whether you are watching it or not. You will guide your squadron's roster, doctrine, and supply through a period of rapid change in aerial warfare. While the game derives its aircraft, timeline, and events from actual history, every pilot's career — and their fate — is forged fresh each time you play. Features Campaigns run weekly from the outbreak of war in 1914 through to the Armistice in 1918. A background war that continues to develop between your turns, whether you're watching it or not. Individually named pilots with their own histories, traits, and career arcs — recruit, train, and promote them, or lose them for good. Doctrine and technology research shape your squadron's tactics and aircraft modifications as the war progresses. Intelligence intercepts and enemy patrol activity bring named rival aces into direct contact with your squadron. A weekly news bulletin tracks rival aces, leaderboard changes, and new pilots entering the war. Historical Pilots Mode lets you recruit real aces of the First World War into your squadron. Four game modes — Classic, Casual, Ironman, and Hardcore — offer different levels of consequence, from standard play to permadeath command of a single named ace. Track your squadron's legacy through a Hall of Fame, an achievement system, and full pilot memorials with generated epitaphs. Manage squadron discipline, conduct, and front-line supply alongside the demands of command. Play as Britain, France, or Germany.
