The Jester and the Madman

Overview The Jester and the Madman is a story-rich point-and-click adventure game steeped in eerie atmosphere, over-the-top pulp fiction, and creeping cosmic dread. It’s a standalone sequel to Curse of the Old Gods , continuing the journey of former FBI agent Rick Moreton, now joined by a new protagonist, nurse Holly Bardot. After thwarting the deranged Professor Clayton’s occult experiment in the mesas of the Congo, Rick returns to New York only to be kidnapped and imprisoned beneath the mysterious Kingdom Hospital. Holly, a nurse at the hospital, stumbles upon Rick’s cell, and unknowingly opens the door to a deeper nightmare. Together, they must expose a secret cult that stretches into the ranks of the FBI and Homeland Security… before it’s too late. Classic Point & Click Gameplay In the grand tradition of 90s adventure games, The Jester and the Madman challenges you to explore richly detailed environments, talk to strange and suspicious characters, collect and combine items, uncover hidden clues, and solve challenging logic-based puzzles. There’s no combat, no timers, just methodical investigation, clever problem-solving, and immersive storytelling. Digitized Visual Style The game features a distinctive digitized graphics aesthetic: characters and scenes built from real photos and actors, frame-by-frame, for a gritty, tactile look. This technique gained popularity in the early '90s with titles like Harvester , Police Quest 4 or Heart of China , and offers a uniquely uncanny atmosphere that blends realism with surrealism. It’s not FMV, there are no full-motion video sequences, but every screen feels grounded, strange, and alive.
